On this special day, young people will embark on a unique culinary adventure, guided by paediatric occupational therapists. They will take on the challenge of "cooking without looking," developing their senses of touch, smell, and hearing to navigate the kitchen with confidence, while also maximising their use of residual vision.
They will measure ingredients by feel, practice careful hand placement for safe chopping, and practice organisation and problem-solving skills to follow recipes. Alongside cooking up a storm they will have opportunities to further refine their fine motor skills and team work.
Through this immersive experience, participants will strengthen essential life skills – including spatial awareness, social skills, mathematics, and kitchen safety – all while collaborating in a supportive and inclusive environment.
