There are some criteria, such as a minimum number of hours you are able to work each week, that need to be met in order to be considered eligible for employment support services. In addition to the essential skills required by employers such as literacy, communication skills, problem solving and teamwork, you will also need to develop skills such as the ability to use assistive technology and be able to travel independently. If you are concerned your job may be at risk because of your vision condition, Vision Australia's employment consultants can support you by improving lighting, supporting you to navigate your work environment and modifying or identifying new equipment and training so you can continue in your role.
