India have claimed the Blind Cricket Twenty20 World Cup on home soil after a strong win in the final against Pakistan, while Australia struggled after making a strong start to the tournament.
Game Eight: Australia vs England
Australia’s rough trot at the Blind Cricket Twenty20 World Cup in India has continued, following a heavy loss to traditional rivals England.
England batted first in the match and after some early wobbles finished their 20 overs with a very respectable 3/251.
Australia had England at 2/53, however some big hitting from their middle order took the game away from Australia. Peter Blueitt finished 98 not-out, while Nathaniel Foy was also unbeaten on 40 and Justin Hollingsworth contributed with 54.
For Australia, James Pritchard claimed one wicket with the ball, while Stephen Palmer and Steffan Nero claimed a run-out each.
Australia started their run chase well, however eventually could only reach 5/193.
Opener Lindsay Heaven top scored with 57, while Nero (46) and Palmer (47) backed up their work in the filed with some solid contributions.
Unfortunately, not other Australian batsmen could crack double figures.
Game Nine: Australia vs Pakistan
Australia have again tasted defeat at the Blind Cricket Twenty20 World Cup, this time at the hands of Pakistan.
Batting first, the Pakistani top order blasted the Australian attack, finishing their 20 overs at 3/321.
Riasat Khan remained 114 not-out and received plenty of support from Matti Ullah (80) and Nisar Ali (78).
Daniel Pritchard, Vaughn Roles and Lindsay Heaven all managed to grab one wicket with the ball for Australia.
Despite some solid batting at the top of the order, Australia could do little to chase down the Pakistani total and finished at 9/174.
Matt Cameron top scored for Australia with 38, while Steffan Nero was the next best with 24.
Heaven and Stephen Palmer provided some lower order resistance with 20 each, but it was not enough to reach the massive Pakistani total.
