What magazines do our librarians recommend?

Maureen - Wheels

Maureen hosts our community engagement events; author readings, book chats, writing programs and more! She loves to peruse Wheels magazine; reading news and new car reviews, enabling her to dream of a sporty car purchase once her children move out of home!

Marnie - Hello! magazine

Marnie manages the library collection and assists with customer service enquiries. She reads Hello! magazine to keep up with all the news and gossip about royals and celebrities; always wondering who ‘a source close to’ them is.

Siobhan - Rolling Stone

Siobhan is the Acquisitions Librarian, a highly influential person who decides what’s included and what’s excluded from the library catalogue. Having spent her youth frequenting Melbourne’s rock and punk live music venues; Siobhan draws on this experience and acts as the metaphorical bouncer for the library catalogue!

Brianna - National Geographic

Brianna is the epitome of the library all-rounder. She manages new library members, organises Braille circulation, supports community engagement and is always available to help our clients.  Brianna loves discovering new places around the world through National Geographic, travelling the globe with every edition.

Noriko - Choice

Noriko is our Accessible Information Systems Librarian, our technological wizard that ensures the i-access library is servicing thousands of Vision Australia Library members every day. Noriko devours the product reviews in Choice magazine, to ensure she’s across the best buys, green buys and quality products when shopping.

Kim - The New Idea

As a Library Officer, Kim supports readers of all ages, from helping our young readers discover our sensory story kits, right through to supporting our older clients and everyone in between.  One of her guilty pleasures is curling up with a little sweet treat and New Idea magazine. She admits “I can’t believe half the things I read in it, but that’s exactly what makes it so much fun!”

Tom - New Scientist

Tom is our Public Library Liaison Officer, the point of contact for thousands of public libraries nationally.  When he’s not problem solving for our library partners, Tom likes to bury himself in New Scientist.  He has a lifelong love of science and likes to keep updated on the latest developments and discoveries.

Kate - Gardening Australia

Kate is one of our children's librarians who helps clients access storybook kits, decodable readers and more from the Feelix Library! When she's not working, Kate is often out in the backyard tending to her vegetable garden or just enjoying her growing native plant collection. Kate looks after her garden with seasonal tips and tricks from the Gardening Australia magazine!

Sarah - Money magazine

Sarah leads our national Library Service, and in her spare time likes to read Money magazine. She’s interested in understanding what’s happening in finance and building her own financial literacy so that she can afford her lifestyle, which mainly includes providing for her two teenage sons and two fussy cats. It’s a great read for the savvy investor or the home budgeter.

Placid - Silicon Chip

Placid has been part of the Vision Australia team for 20 years and is our technical genius on all things associated with audio players and accessing the library catalogue.  Placid is a passionate reader of Silicon chip, and loves discovering the latest technological advances in Australia and around the world. Placid has written several articles for Silicon chip, including winning the prize for the top article!

Rhyce - Australian Geographic

Rhyce is an Audio Fulfilment Officer, he spends his day uploading books onto clients’ envoys and resolving issues anyone is having with their audio devices.  When he’s not consumed by electronics, Rhyce loves reading Australian geographic and learning more about the history and geography of our beautiful country.

George - ABC Organic Gardener magazine

George is an Audio Fulfilment Officer at Vision Australia Library and considers himself an Envoy loading specialist!  When George isn’t busy ensuring our clients have a wonderful selection of books on their i-access bookshelf, he’s busying himself in his garden.  George loves learning about organic gardening, and the tricks to growing fruit, vegies and herbs in the most sustainable manner.

Hannah - Gourmet Traveller

Hannah is our children's events and partnerships coordinator. When she's not planning and running Storytimes for our youngest members, she's cooking up a storm or eating out at a new restaurant. She loves reading Gourmet Traveller to find new recipes and the latest restaurants in Melbourne and around the world.
